Note:
Piranesi's depictions of the Classical architecture of Rome, whilst being technically accurate, also convey a powerful sense of the romance and grandeur of the ruins depicted. The present etchings depict the old walls of Monte Celio, or the Caelian Hill, one of the seven hills of Rome, alongside the Nero Aqueduct.
