Giovanni Crotta (1896-1940) - Scena orientalista

CROTTA, GIOVANNI (1878-1958)

Born in Treviglio in 1878, he was active from 1896 to the 1940s. From 1902 to 1910 he taught drawing in Bergamo. He exhibits in France at the Salon des Independents, Berlin and New York. He collaborates with various newspapers with drawings and comics, and illustrates for children's publishing also in collaboration with Giove Toppi.

The watercolor paper features rust-colored pinpoint blooms visible in photographs that make the watercolor even more fascinating.
The subject is two middle-aged men smoking in the orientalist style of some illustrations made for the free people of Emilio Salgari.

Small lack of gilding in the frame which is included (it will be carefully packaged and I will only respond to any damage to the painting but not to breakage of the glass) . Please therefore consider only the watercolor and not the frame when bidding (although it will be included) .
