Born in Milan in 1959, Giovanni Frangi studied at the Brera Academy and began to exhibit his works immediately after graduation. Frangi is a painter with a quick and unmistakable mark and a formidable ability to evoke an entire pictorial universe with a few touches of colour. The problem of creating a space that evokes the progressive dematerialization of the place in which we live is the heart of Frangi's work for some years. Since the mid-1990s, since he began to address the issue of "Tangenziali", with large works in which the lines of a ring road, or those of the suburban buildings, became pure compositional pretexts for structured works around the idea of a more and more air space and no boundaries. Moving away from the exploration of the Milanese reality with tones and new Italian wilderness, Frangi then came to the most disparate elements of the landscape: from the limpid water of the docks of Porto Marghera to the channels of the Po Valley. And now it is the turn of the woods, whose image was born from the idea of the painting as an organic part of a whole, as well as the picture as a physical body, compositional within the museum space.
