The movement with helical hair spring and two arrow shaped bridges one of gold is a precision version of the triple bridge tourbillon Girard Perregaux is most known for. The inscription on the cuvette ‘Chronomètre Bulletin d’Obervatoire Girard-Perregaux Chaux-De-Fonds Médaille D’Or Exposition Universelle Paris 1889’, recalls the maker’s prominence in precision movements.

The style of the case and dial are particular to those made for the South American Market in the late 19th Century
