[ translate ]

‘Imagines Mundi’ is a study about space, five chapters exploring lands, rocks, seas, mountains and skies, or rather photographing our idea of space. Edition of 5 copies + 2 artist’s proofs Three (3) photographs in 45x60 cm format, fine digital print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth paper Two (2) photographs in 90x120 cm format, fine digital print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth paper White box frame with museum glass. Giulia Flavia Baczynski's procedure develops as an imaginary cartography and paper is the main material she uses to create new landscapes. Photography is the tool that allows the landscapes become maps and the light that spreads between the folds defines the spatial coordinates generated on the map. The code to explain the world's shape lies between its own folds and only if you are willing to wander around and get lost among its mazes, you can learn an alphabet that can recognize it and allows us to give it meaning. The power of these images comes from being a cross between "landscapes and mindscapes, or rather between terrestrial geographies and mental geographies, between what is and what it could become. ‘Imagines Mundi is the place where the osmosis, transition and transformation happen. It is the instant when each of us tries to imagine not a place, but a place in our minds. ” 2019 | “Imagines Mundi”, curated by Lucia Biolchini and Silvia Mazzucchelli, Dislocata, Vignola (Mo) 2019 | “Imagines Mundi”, curated by Dislocata, Wunderkammer Editions, exhibition catalogue 2016 | Imagines mundi @ Phonography 2. 0, Talk at Riu – Reframe Images Unconventionally, Rimini.
