\Artist: Giuseppe Antonio Petrini (Attribuito)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 139_169_5_cm
Antique painting, oil on canvas, from the 18th century, depicting the Miracle of Blessed Salvatore da Horta, attributed to Giuseppe Antonio Petrini (Carona, 23 October 1677 - Carona, 1759) . The painting is accompanied by written expertise by Prof. Alessandro Nesi. The scholar, without doubts about the authorship of our painting, analyzes and compares the pictorial drafting, the characterization of the figures and the scenographic setting of our canvas with more works by the artist, as in three paintings preserved in Lugano: the "Santa Monica di Conti-Prevosti collection, "The education of the Virgin" in S. Antonio abate, the "Sacred conversation" of the Art Museum and the "Death of St. Joseph" of the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli in Morbio Inferiore, of which evidence is same fluid plasticism of the forms, with the shadows that even when they are dark and deep never appear too clear, and it is as if they vibrated within them with a hidden luminous energy. Just as the "Diogenes" of the Staatliche Kunstsammulungen find a comparison, for the same red preparation from which the forms emerge slowly, through lumps of pasty paint and rarefied and loose luminous flaps, the fluid and vibrant drapery and the pointed profile of some of the characters. of Kassel, “L'addolorata” of the Zust art gallery in Rancate, the “Prophet Isaiah” of the Collegiate Church of Morbegno and the “San Giovanni Battista” of Origlio. Framed in a splendid setting dating back to the early 18th century, in patina, in its original lacquering and gilding. There are slight defects and shortcomings. In fairly good general condition considering the age of the painting, some scattered restorations and some unveiling of the painted surface can be seen. There are no conservation problems and the original canvas has an old relining. A fine crackle is visible compared to the time. The frame seems to have been replaced at the time of the relining. Measurements of the painting: 118. 5 x 147 cm. Frame size: 139 x 169 cm. Work accompanied by a certificate of photographic authenticity, as per current legislation. Shipping via insured express courier and packaging carried out with the utmost care.
