1980
Giuseppe Biasio (Piazzola sul Brenta - Padua, 1928) showed his artistic talent as a child so that the artist Dino Lazzaro, already from the fourth grade, took him with him and taught him the basics of pictorial art. He attended the Selvatico Institute in Padua where Amleto Sartori, his Plastics teacher, made him understand that his vocation was to be an artist. Circumstances soon push him to go to Venezuela in search of work. He visits the museums of Caracas, but the contact with the local artists, who are too realist, will not influence his art. Upon returning to Italy he was fascinated by the Great Masters, he looked at Caravaggio, but always with his own singular interpretation. He frequented the Venetian circles where he met Rauschenberg in 1964. This meeting was important because Biasio immediately assimilated and interpreted the Master's lesson in his own way, translating it into his pictorial language. In 1969 he exhibited in Milan at the "G 15" gallery. He later exhibited in Padua at the "Jaccarino" and "La Chiocciola" galleries. His passion for oriental cultures leads him to have important experiences abroad. He stayed in Saudi Arabia for eight months and exhibited in Theran and Shiraz. During this experience he supported himself exclusively by selling his works. Upon his return to Italy he attended the Venetian studio of Emilio Vedova with whom he participated in a study stay in Salzburg. He participates in numerous exhibitions, in particular at the Triveneta Art Biennials and at the Pettenon Prize. In 1981 with Guglielmo Capuzzo, Guido Dragani, Antonio Sassu, Maurizio Stefanato and Antonio Zago he founded the Veneto Artistic Promotion Group LA MATITA. After years of silent work in the city of the Saint, his work finally returned to the spotlight in 2008 which certainly appears to be his year. The artist is in fact turning eighty. In April he exhibited a prestigious solo show at the Anfiteatro gallery. In September the Public Administration of Padua dedicated an anthological exhibition to him at the Rinascente gallery. At the end of the year he was chosen among the Paduan artists for the usual 2009 calendar published by Fotolito Express of Limena, now in its twelfth edition.
