Santomaso studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and was one of the co-founders of the progressive Italian artist group ‘Nouva Secessione artistica italiana’.When traveling to Paris he took an interest in the French Avant-garde artists and became a representative and supporter of abstract art.
