[ translate ]

\Artist: Giuseppe Sebasti (1900-1961)
Technique: oil on cardboard\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 50_57_3_cm
Giuseppe Sebasti (1900-1961) , Eastern city, oil on cardboard, dimensions 31. 5 x 39 cm, signed lower right. In a mid-20th century frame. Giuseppe Sebasti, originally from Rome, grew up in Alexandria in Egypt where the family had moved for his father's professional needs. From an early age he became passionate about painting, first as a self-taught person and then, on his return to Italy, going to the workshop of some important artists including Felice Carena. In his painting orientalist subjects dominate and in particular the views and characters of the Egypt of his youth. Even in his mature years Sebasti remained faithful to a figurative painting, but without ever giving up a technical and thematic dialogue with the avant-gardes of the full twentieth century. He is an internationally sought-after artist and also beaten at the large auction houses (Christie's Paris awarded one of his canvases in 2020 for 6000 euros plus rights, and in the past several Orientalist canvases also at values around 10,000 euros) . The work in question is a view of a city in Egypt with a minaret in the foreground; note the lively play of light and shadows that stand out on the buildings, giving energy and warmth to the landscape. The work is intact and well preserved, to note some stains, deposits and slight abrasions due to natural aging. Slightly oxidized surface paint. Work with Certificate of Authenticity and Legitimate Origin. The work is shipped by express courier 24/48 hours with INSURANCE. We inform you that in case of SALE ABROAD the shipment can be made only AFTER HAVING OBTAINED THE EXPORT AUTHORIZATION OF THE MINISTRY OF CULTURAL HERITAGE (Certificate of Free Movement of Fine Arts) . This practice generally involves a WAIT of about 20 days. At present, due to the measures to contain the Covid 19 epidemic, waiting times could be longer. Shipping costs for abroad include the cost associated with the Fine Arts export practice and any customs procedures.
