Giuseppe Vasari 1934-2005 Opulent Metal Chess Set

Giuseppe Vasari (Italian, 1934-2005). An elegant mixed media chess set and table board. Having 32 gold gilt and silvered pewter metal pieces in a design inspired by "The Three Musketeers," by Alexandre Dumas Pere (1802-1870). The king and queen of the black side are based on King Louis XIII of France and his queen, Anne of Austria; the opposing gilt king and queen are based on Cardinal Richelieu and Milady De Winter with Musketeer and Cardinal's Guard pawns and other pieces. Accompanied with an elegant onyx top table on scrolling form legs terminating in beast paw feet (measures approximately 24" x 52" x 30"), and a matched pair of stool chairs of similar design and upholstered in a cut velvet fabric (each measures approximately 19" x 12" x 12"). Individual chess pieces presented on ornate scrolling bases with onyx and measure from approximately 6" to 9" tall.

Dimensions: 24 X 52 X 30 in.

Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Estate fresh to the market.
