Glass snuff bottle painted on the inside, signed by Zhang Baotian and dated 1894
Rectangular in shape and flattened, the bottle is painted on the inside with gouache and ink, featuring a continuous landscape scene of a lake with pavilions and figures in sampans or seated at the water’s edge. On one side is the inscription: 張葆田作 甲午仲夏—Zhāng Bǎotián zuò Jiǎwǔ zhòngxia—“made by Zhang Baotian in midsummer of the year Jiawu” (June 1894).
