Godey Fashions Hand Colored engraving April 1869

Antique fold-out hand colored engraving from the Godey's Magazine, "Godey's Fashions for April 1869", engraved by Kimmel & Forster exclusively for Godey, framed in antique glass frame with picture mat.

P.K. Kimmell was a New Yorker engraver of vignettes and portraits working about 1850, and was later a member of the engraving firm of Capewell & Kimmell, of the same city. Mr. Stauffer also speaks of Kimmell & Forster as an "engraving firm." This may explain what seems to be something of a scarcity of their lithographs. They are interesting, however. Condition Report: The engraving is 10.3/4" x 8.1/2" [28cm x 21.5cm]; the frame is 14" x 12" [36cm x 30cm;] the plate has an original vertical fold in the middle, some aging, very good condition.
