Gold Nugget 16 to 1 Mine, Alleghany Alleghany District Sierra Co. California, USA Collectors will be familiar with the famed Sixteen-to-One Mine that was one of the largest producers of Gold in California for over 70 years but has now been closed for decades. This specimen with a brilliant luster boasts significant surfaces of crusty crystalline Gold and intricate form. The yellow Gold perches on a base of Quartz that is nicely sufficient for the size of the precious metal cluster. The Gold on the top arches to one side and nearly connects with the crystalline section on the bottom of this piece. Overall Measurements: 1.91 x 1.66 x 0.88 inches (4.86 x 4.22 x 2.23 cm), weighs 52.36 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
