STANDING MAN CROSSED LEGS WITH GUN AND PIPE.
Gold weight. Gold weight.
Uniquely detailed, look at the face, hand and feet; and the cannon.
Made with the lost shape method, lost wax, cire perdue, lost wax method.
African bronze. With matching custom-made stand or pedestal.
Wear and signs of use consistent with tribal use. Unique patina of use, soft to the touch.
The left arm was broken off a long time ago to bring the weight to the correct tribal weight to use. Another evidence of good tribal use as a gold weight.
As a counterweight to small scales or balances. All this before 1900, when the use of gold weights as currency was banned and replaced by coins.
Weight 21. 9 grams. Dimensions 5. 0 x 2. 9 x 2. 1 cm.

Comes from a Dutch private collection, previously an old German collection.
