Gordon's folio is the book which Mr Jonathan Oldbuck, the antiquary in Scott's novel of that name, unwraps in the Queensferry diligence and which proves his vade-mecum in his studies of the subjects Gordon had made his own' (Iain Gordon Brown in ODNB).
