Gorgeous / Tall Roman Glass Bottle

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An elegant translucent free blown glass vessel in the shape of a pendulum, with its body tapering to a graceful curved tip. The neck is tightly corseted below a wide, flaring mouth with a broad rim and rolled lip. The surface features a beautiful silvery iridescence. Size: 2.9" W x 7.1" H (7.4 cm x 18 cm); 7.5" H (19 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition Report: Repaired at rim and neck; this is well done and unobtrusive. Areas of beautiful silvery iridescence on much of the body, especially the neck and shoulder. Nice deposits on the surface do not obscure the original color of the glass. There is a rough pontil scar on the underside. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.
