1851 (28 March) ALS over four pages to Edward Harper headed "Private" explaining his intentions to oppose the Ecclesiastical Titles Bill - "I don't think the Government will venture to omit Ireland from the bill: but in that event ... I shall oppose the bill altogether ... the measure will be defeated [and] the Government will resigned, & the settlement of the question will be thrown upon us. No doubt a great responsibility but we must meet it like men". Signed with initial only "D". Some staining and repairs, but good content.
