George I silver "William Wake - Archbishop of Canterbury" Medal 1725 MS63 NGC, MI-462-73, Eimer-500. By Jean Dassier, from his "Protestant Reformers" series. Obv. bust right, in clerical robes. Rev. fifteen-line inscription. Having served as Bishop of London and Archbishop of Canterbury, Wake is widely considered one of Britain’s greatest churchmen. The metallic bust of Wake is encircled by cerulean, charcoal, and ochre tones edging out towards the peripheries. On the reverse, a mottled spectrum of color serves as a backdrop to the commemorative text. Scarce in silver and the only example registered with NGC.
