Used Abroad: Peru: Pre-stamp and stampless mail group incl. 1827 entire letters to London, datelined at Arica with step-framed “PORTSMOUTH/SHIP LETTER” marks deleted and rated ‘3/6’(d) or ‘7/-’. 1854 entire letter to Boston, datelined at Chincha, sent via an agent in Callao but carried privately and with a circular “STEAMSHIP/20”, 1856 apparently unpaid wrapper to Paris with double arc “ARICA” c.d.s, oval “FRANCA/TACNA” and framed “GB/2F87/5c/10” accountancy mark on front, 1858 entire letter to England, datelined at Iquique, rated ‘2/-’ and apparently placed in the post in Panama and a few others.
