Greek AR Antiochus VII Euergetes Tetradrachm

Greek, Ancient Near East, Antioch on the Orontes, Seleucid (Seleukid) Dynasty, ca. 138 to 129 BCE. A very fine silver tetradrachm coin! Obverse: Antiochus VII diademed head facing right. Reverse: Athena Nikephoros standing left, holding Nike, 2 monograms to left, all within a laurel wreath. Compare to SC 2061.4g; HGC 9, 1067d. Size: 1.21" Diameter (3.1 cm); silver quality: 95.7%; weight: 16.8 grams

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private doctor's collection, Munich, Germany, acquired from the 1960s to 1990s
