Greek Athenian Ceramic Lekythos, Hermes or Perseus

Greek vase with the head of a young man wearing a winged pilos helmet with dotted feathers. The offset bottom of the helmet with tiny spots. The young man shows a short nose, a mouth with protruding lower lip, and a heavy chin. A large mass of hair on the temple. A vegetal ornament in front of the head. Behind a dotted point. A reserved base below. The winged helmet is the attribute of Hermes or Perseus. Hermes was the messenger of the gods, Perseus instead a legendary figure who beheaded the gorgon Medusa.
