Greek Boeotian Terracotta Horse & Rider
Ancient Greece, Boeotia, ca. 575 to 550 BCE. A hand-built pottery horse with four bulbous legs, a slender body, and a tapered tail projecting off the posterior. The equine head has a tall snout in front of a crested mane and a singular eye applied to one side. Holding the horse's mane is a headless rider with a minimalist body and attenuated, forward-facing legs. Size: 3.45" W x 2.8" H (8.8 cm x 7.1 cm)
