Greek Canosan Terracotta Votive Figure Warrior, TL'd

Magna Graecia, Apulia, Canosan Hellenistic Period, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A fine mold-made terracotta statue of a warrior standing atop a cuboid plinth and wearing a Thracian Helmet. Embellished with liberal remains of beige and pink paint, the hollow figure is draped in a long cape and wears traditional armor with a breast plate and skort as he holds a circular shield in his left hand and a petite object in his right. Size: 2.75" W x 8.5" H (7 cm x 21.6 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

Provenance: private P. H. collection, Virginia, USA, acquired in 1970

Condition Report: TL holes to base and middle of back. Chips to top of helmet. Surface wear with some abrasions and softening of detail as shown. Otherwise, very nice with liberal remains of pigment.
