Greek Gold Amphora Pendant
5th-3rd century BC. A pendant in the form of an amphora, the body and neck composed of free-running stone beads including lapis lazuli and coral, shoulder with sheet-gold collar of granulated chevrons, scrolled and corded gold wire handles ornamented with granules, gold collar to the mouth, collar of granulated chevrons to base, pearl bead below, granulated foot with pyramid clusters; ribbed and plain suspension loops above. 3.94 grams, 37mm (1 1/2"). Ex important Japanese collection of jewellery, 1970s-2010.
