Greek Hellenistic Terracotta Spindle Flask

Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery vessel of a slender form known as a "spindle flask" with a petite foot, an inverted piriform body, and a tapered cylindrical neck with an out-folded rim. The vessel is covered in attractive grey pigment, and scattered areas of wear reveal the original buffware coloration beneath. A lovely example of a perfume-holding vessel from ancient Greece! Size: 1.25" W x 4.875" H (3.2 cm x 12.4 cm).
