Greek Mycenaean Polychrome Jar w/ Handles

Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, ca. 1500 BCE. A hand-built pottery jar with a narrow circular base, a wide body with lightly corseted walls, a sloped shoulder with a pair of arching handles, and a squat, tapered neck with a flared rim. Streaks of black and red pigment form attractive rings around the rim, handles, and body atop a beige ground, and the underside of the foot is decorated with a radiating spoke motif. A fine example from ancient Mycenae! Size: 4.5" W x 3.625" H (11.4 cm x 9.2 cm).

Provenance: ex-estate of Roy Green, Birmingham, Alabama acquired before 2015 from major New York galleries
