Greek School, late 18th century, a fine icon with St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Saint characteristically portrayed wearing an omophorion with crosses, and holding a book, surrounded by further Saints, traditionally painted in strong colours, tempera on prepared panel, 56cm high, 48cm wide
A similarly large 18th century Orthodox icon depicting St Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra was sold at Christies South Kensington, Interiors - Style & Spirit, 24 February 2009, lot 428.

The two figures to either side of St Nicholas were there identified as Christ presenting the Saint with the Gospels, and the Virgin Mary giving him the episcopal stole
