4th-2nd century BC. A terracotta votive figure formed as a young(?) female, standing, right arm on hip, left arm held at side gathering garment in fingers; hair tied back beneath fillet, wearing a chiton; eyes, facial detailing evident including eyes, nose and mouth; flat-backed with small piercing at nape of neck; integral rhomboidal base. 166 grams, 16.5cm (6 1/2"). Property of a Middlesex collector; acquired on the London art market before 2000; formerly in an old English collection.
