Grossular var. Colorless Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada "A 3.75 inch cluster of sharp white [sic] intergrown grossular crystals to about an inch. Some of the crystals are of gem quality. This be be [sic] the best of its kind ever found in asbestos [sic] and perhaps the best white [sic] garnet ever found anywhere. Bought from Maurice Boisvert, a miner at Asbestos in the open pit mine. The scale under the specimen is an inch with a rule at one cm." - Rock H. Currier Although given to an occasional burst of superlatives in connection to "his children" Rock was spot on with this number, except for the fact that they're colorless not really "white" crystals. These came out years ago when Asbestos was in full production and there hasn't been anything like them since. Everything he says about this specimen is true and he might have been understating the case at that. Overall Measurements: 3.5 x 2.4 x 1.2 inches (9.0 x 6.0 x 3.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought from Maurice Boisvert [RHC #3832, acquired 1979] MinID RT8-KGK [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
