Meade is seated at center in the photograph, looking directly at the camera, with Generals Andrew A. Humphreys and Marsena R. Patrick to his right, plus Brigadier Generals Rufus Ingalls and Henry J. Hunt standing on his left. The men stand in uniform before a tent, with a flag raised at center left.
