Group of (2) Hen Broadbill from South Shore of L.I.

Group of (2) Hen Broadbill from South Shore of L.I. The two rig mates are almost identical. The natural cork unpainted bodies are both nailed and pegged into a 1'' painted bottom board. The heads are inlayed and a dowel covered bolt runs through the head and bolted to the bottom board. A piece of iron chain is used for ballast with a stapled ring line tie. Both are excellent examples of South Bay gunning stool in original as found condition. Provenance: Acquired by descent from Dr. George R. Brush, of the settling Brush family of Southold, Long Island, New York.
