Group of (2) Queen Victoria patents, on parchment, with Great wax Seals, to include: 1875 patent for the invention of ''Improvements in stoppering jars, bottles, and other vessels'', issued on behalf of Charles DeQuillfeldt and Karl Hutter of New York, having wax Great Seal of Victoria housed in tin skippet attached to parchment with woven twine, with original leather presentation box, (bottom of box is separated); and 1876 patent for ''Improvements in machines for bending certain parts of wire fastenings for bottle stoppers'', issued on behalf of Henry William Putnam of Bennington, Vermont, having wax seal in tin skippet attached to parchment with woven twine, (wax broken into several pieces). Both patents with accompanying ''Assignment of Letters Patent'' documents. Parchment with expected toning and creasing, minor foxing. Skippets 6-3/4''dia; box 11-1/4''l, 8-1/4''w, 2''h. Provenance: Estate of Charles DeQuillfeldt; to present owner by descent. Note: Charles DeQuillfeldt is noted for his invention of the flip-top ''Lightning bottle stopper'', still widely used today.
