Group of 6 Chinese Silver Hairpins, 19th Century
A group of 6 Chinese silver hairpins in a lacquer box dating from the 19th century. The hairpins are in the form of birds, beetles, and butterflies and feature tourmaline, pearls, jadeite, and kingfisher feathers.
Dimensions are: the box measures 6 3/4 inches tall X 13 inches wide, 17.15 cm X 33.02 cm, while the largest hairpin measures 8 3/4 inches tall X 4 inches wide, 22.2 cm X 10.2 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Conditions vary.
Provenance: From the estate of Lim Kee Chin, who was Singapore's trade commissioner to Hong Kong in the 1960s. Mr. Lim acquired these items while he was in Hong Kong.
