Group of Four Lidded Boxes

three boxes circa 1920s-1930s; one box Meiji Era, 19th century
comprising one box by Robinson, one box by Gustave Keller Frères, one box by an unknown maker and one Japanese Suzuri-bako box from the Meiji Era
enameled silver, lacquered wood, coquille d'œuf
one box impressed ROBINSON/STERLING/MADE IN FRANCE with maker's and silver hallmarks and numbered 4138; one box monogrammed DWD and impressed G. KELLER PARIS with the firm's and silver hallmarks
largest box: 5 ⅛ x 11 ½ x 6 ¾ in. (13 x 29.2 x 17.1 cm)

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. The four boxes present with scattered surface scratches, light scuffing, discolorations, small indentations and edge wear consistent with age and gentle handling. The two wood boxes present with minor scattered losses to the lacquer and a few small chips to the wood concentrated to the edges, not visually distracting. The largest box presents with a few hairline cracks particularly concentrated to the upper edges and corners of the lid, some of which appear to have been sensitively stabilized at some point in the history of the piece. The underside of the largest box with a hairline crack measuring approximately 10 in. long, stable. The largest box with more pronounced scuffing where the lid meets the exterior, not visible when the lid is installed. The design of the largest box with scattered dark brown dots, some of which present with chips and losses. The lid of the second largest box does not secure tightly but is stable in place. The two metal boxes present with light tarnish and minor losses to the lacquer consistent with age and use. The eggshell pieces retain their original brightness and present with rich textural tones and some minor occasional losses.
