Buckland, 65 Company, Machine Gun Corps, late Devonshire Regiment, who died in Salonika in October 1918Military Medal, G.V.R. (29723 Sjt. B. G. London Gazette 13 March 1919.Croix de Guerre London Gazette 21 July 1919.Basil George Buckland was born in Hadenbridge, Surrey, in 1897, and originally enlisted as 1695 Private, Devon Regiment. He transferred to 65 Coy. M.G.C. and served in Salonika, where he won the M.M. for gallantry in the battle of Doiran on 17-18 September 1918 - the War Diary reports ‘Sgt.
