M.B.E. London Gazette 3 June 1919:
‘For valuable service rendered in connection with military operations in France.’
Charles Falconer Guy Everett was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion, Hampshire Regiment (Territorial Force) on 5 October 1915, and was attached to the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, with the rank of temporary Lieutenant, on 1 May 1916. He served with the 2nd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, during the Great War on the Western Front from June 1916, taking part in the Battle of the Somme, where the Battalion was involved in the action at The Quadrilateral, 13-17 September 1916, and suffered total casualties of 654. For his services during the Great War Everett was created a member of the Order of the British Empire. He was restored to his parent unit on 6 December 1919, and relinquished his commission on 30 September 1921, retaining the rank of Lieutenant.
Sold with the recipient’s Bestowal Document for the M.B.E., and a letter of enclosure from the British Consulate General, Chicago, dated 14 April 1920, giving the recipient’s address as ‘Big Horn, Sheridan, Wyoming’.
