London Gazette 14 July 1916.For services in H.M. Drifter Ocean Retriever in the Auxiliary Patrol during the period 1 January 1915 to 31 January 1916. The recommendation states: ‘Carried out duties under extremely arduous and hazardous conditions of weather and exposure to enemy attack and mines with marked zeal, gallantry and success.’Angus McIver was born on Stornoway in July 1877 and enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve on 19 August 1898. He served throughout the Great War borne on the books of H.M.S. Eagle (also entitled to a 1914-15 Star), and was shore demobilised on 28 March 1919.
