Grover Cleveland ALS Declining Newspaper Subscription "I have such little time to read newspapers"

An autograph letter signed by written in the months following his first term as President of the United States. 1p of a bifolium, measuring 8" x 10.5", New York, dated December 16, 1889. Signed "Grover Cleveland" and addressed to Leo J. Judson Esq. In the letter, Cleveland politely declines an offer of a subscription to a newspaper, claiming his schedule is too busy to read newspapers. With flattened mail folds, faint toning, and minor scattered soiling. Tape at the folds on verso. Boldly signed.
In full:
"I have received a lot of newspaper clippings which you sent me and which I have not read but return to you with this letter. I have such little time to read newspapers and have no time to devote to the reading of personal allusions to myself, in batches as large as you propose to send me, at an expense of five dollars per month. The clippings you kindly sent me as samples are returned with thanks for your good motives, but with a desire to emphasize my declination of your proposition."
