Grover & Frances Cleveland Double Signatures During 1st Term - The Newlyweds Approach 1st Wedding Anniversary!
Signatures
An autograph album page jointly signed by 22nd/24th U.S. President Grover Cleveland (1837-1908), as "Grover Cleveland / May 20, 1887" near the top; and by First Lady Frances Cleveland (1864-1947), as "Frances Cleveland / May 20, 1887" near the bottom. N.p. but presumably Washington, DC With gentle mostly even toning. Isolated mat burn and discoloration from two mounting tabs at the top, else near fine. Trimmed to an overall size of 6.125" x 7.25". Comes with the former collector's research printouts. From The Doug Wertman Collection.
When President Cleveland and his new First Lady signed these autographs on May 20, 1887, the couple was just two weeks shy of their first wedding anniversary; the Clevelands had married in a White House ceremony on June 2, 1886. Now, nearly a year into their marriage, Grover was a hale 50 years old, and Frances was two months away from her 23rd birthday.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
