Group of seven catlinite/pipestone objects. Includes one 19th c. weight marked “8000”; one pair of bookends with lead plugs etched with buffalo and bow and arrow motifs, early 20th c.; one Santee Sioux hatchet; one Santee Sioux inkwell, ca. 1900; one picture frame with a photo of a mother and child; and one horseshoe etched with a floral motif.
From the Collector's Notes: The weight may have been used as a trade weight to measure out pony beads (approximately 8000 6/o pony beads = 15 + ounces). Dimensions: Heights range from 2 in to 9 1/4 in. Widths range from 1 3/4 in to 4 1/2 in. Depths range from 3 1/2 in to 4 1/4 in.
