Guibert
Guibert EMMANUEL GUIBERT The Professor's Daughter, Dupuis 2003 Original cover of the reprint. Signed. Indian ink, wash, and watercolor on paper 29.6 × 41.7 cm (11.65 × 16.42 in.) The Professor’s Daughter is one of Emmanuel Guibert’s earliest graphic novels, written by Joann Sfar, a longtime collaborator from his early days, notably at L’Association. It is a wild and sensitive tale involving mummies and love. We are already blown away by the artist’s technique, as he is capable of using all tools and mediums—pencil, pen, brush, ink, and watercolor—with equal mastery. This talent has earned him numerous awards, including the Angoulême Grand Prix, and ultimately secured him a seat at the Academy of Fine Arts, succeeding Catherine Meurisse. What an incredible journey!
