In 1928 he started his training in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios of Seville. In 1934 he studied in the Escuela de Bellas Artes of Madrid and he furthered his knowledge in the United States, with a grant from the Diputación Provincial of Seville. In 1964 he was appointed Permanent Assistant Professor at the Escuela de Bellas Artes of San Fernando and he accessed the Cátedra de Preparatorio de Colorido in 1969, from where he went to the Facultad de Bellas Artes until his retirement in 1981. He held several solo exhibitions in Madrid (Sala Macarrón, 1943, 1945, 1949, 1952, 1958, 1962, 1981; Sala del Prado del Ateneo, 1965; Galería Círculo 2, 1968; Galería Richelieu, 1970; Sala Cellini, 1972; Galería Andrada, 1977; Galería Balboa, 13, 1979, 1983, Sala Santa Catalina del Ateneo, 1980; Galería Kreisler, 1986, 1990) , Bilbao (sala Arte, 1946, 1948, 1963) , Córdoba (Sala Céspedes del Círculo de la Amistad, 1962) , Seville (Sala del Ateneo, 1962, Museo del Arte Contemporáneo, 1984) , Salamanca (Escuela de Nobles y Bellas Artes y San Eloy, 1965) , Valladolid (Caja de Ahorros de Salamanca, 1965) , Barcelona (Camarote Granados, 1969; Galería Kreisler, 1987) , Valencia (Galería Galatheo, 1963) , Javea (Ronda Sur, 1983) , etc. In 1945 he was awarded with the Premio de Pintura in the Concursos Nacionales; in 1948 he won a third medal in the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes; in 1952 he achieved a second medal; in 1960 he obtained the Premio de la Diputación de Sevilla, in the Exposición de Otoño de la Real Academia; in 1961, he won the Gold Medal of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, in the Salón de Grabado; in 1962, he was awarded the Premio de la Diputación de La Coruña, in the drawing section of the Nacional de Bellas Artes; in 1964 he obtained the Fundación March grant; in 1972 he was awarded with the Honorary Medal of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría at the Exposición de Otoño de Sevilla.
