⁂ A wide ranging report on the proper care for newborn infants, including the perils of multiple breastfeeding by mothers or wet nurses, "The milk that a woman can produce in 24 hours is normally used up by a single child: this same quantity is rarely enough for two", the risk of contagion, "the great number of children crowded together will quicker still make it unhealthy and ripe for contagion" etc.

Guillotin, an opponent of the death penalty, is best remembered for advocating a mechanical method of execution that was more humane than existing methods. The device that bears his name was invented by others but bears his name from his suggestion.
