The Way of the Years, 1916. Signed or inscribed "by Gustave..." in pencil and with hand-in-heart chop l.r. Color woodcut on paper, image size 10 7/8 x 9 7/8 in. (27.5 x 25.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Sheet toned and colors attenuated, glued to a facing mat within the margins, sheet previously folded into eighths, tear to image c.l., glue and tape to verso primarily at the edges.

In addition there are registration pin holes (as printed) to the upper and lower edges. There are minor tears and losses to edges. While the margins are largely glued to the facing mat as mentions, it is possible to see a small part of the lower margin, thus the mention of the signature. The signature and chop are mostly hidden due to the adhesion of the margins to the facing mat. The sheet measures 12 x 11 in., and the frame is 19 x 17 5/8 in.
