Gustave Loiseau
1865 - 1935
Vase de fleurs

Signed G Loiseau (lower left)
Oil on board
24 by 19 3/4 in. (61 by 50.2 cm)
Framed: 31 1/4 by 26 1/4 in. (79.4 by 66.7 cm)

This work will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné being prepared by Didier Imbert.

Condition Report:
The board is sound. The surface is richly textured and the impasto is well-preserved. Some wear to the board and to the pigments in all four corners. There are ten pinholes distributed around the four edges. Some light frame abrasion to the extreme lower edge. At the center of the right edge, there is a scratch to the pigment extending two inches inward. A half-inch scratch in the dark grey pigment to the right of the vase. Under UV light: some areas fluoresce due to uneven varnish, but no inpainting is visible. The work is in good condition.

Provenance:
Estate of the artist (and sold: Hôtel Drouot, Paris, April 27, 1936)
Durand-Ruel, Paris (acquired at the above sale)
