Gustave Marissiaux (1872-1929) picturalist photographer from Belgium. ''Marissiaux was born in Marles and settled in Liège in 1890. Around the turn of the century he made various photo reportages, mainly landscapes, often bathed in fog. In 1903 he was commissioned to 'immortalize' the coal mines in Wallonia. He also gained his name from a series of photos taken during a trip to Venice, Tuscany and Umbria in 1905. He also made cityscapes, portraits and nudes, always photographed with a lot of artistic feeling. His style is pictorial, with symbolist accents. An important part of his photographs were published in 1908 under the title Visions d'artistes.
