Sculpture by Gustave van Vaerenbergh C. 1900 A beautiful Art Nouveau bust. This antique composition was crafted in Belgium and is numbered. The sculpture is signed (incised signature on the sculpture) on the back G. V. Vaerenbergh and numbered with the number 1457. Dates from circa 1900. , Hand-Carved Terracotta, Hand-Painted. The bust is made of terracota, patinated in a beautiful dark pink colour with a golden base. It has a beautiful old patina. Very pretty glazed . A female bust, of a refined young lady. The sculpture is very well detailed. Notice her hair is held back by a headband . The sculpture was made and signed by the well-known Belgian artist Gustave van Vaerenbergh (Ghent, 1873 - Schaerbeek, 1927) , a Belgian sculptor. He was born in Ghent on January 6, 1873, and died in Schaerbeek on February 16, 1927. Studied at the Ghent Academy of Fine Arts from 1888 to 1890. He was mainly known for his women's busts and children compositions. He became known especially for his busts of women and children. Most of his works were made according to his models in a sculptor's workshop in Schaerbeek, a district of Brussels. Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Some of his sculptures are shown in Beeldhouwkunst in Belgie (Deel III, page 1712) , but wrongly assigned to another sculptor. Dimensions: Height: 24 cm Width on the base : 20 cm Condition is very good with no chips or cracks. Carefully inspect the photos, since they are an important part of the description. .
