Guy CAMBIER (1923-2008) , an oil on canvas depicting a portrait of a young woman, signed and dated at the bottom right "Guy CAMBIER - 60 ". So-called Montparnasse style frame is older, late 19th century. Condition: The painting is in very good condition, the wooden ans stucco frame is in good condition and has an old repair, barely visible at the top left, see penultimate photo. Size: Frame: 60 x 52 cm, Painting: 40 x 32 cm. Guy CAMBIER (1923-2008) is a Belgian artist, born in Uccle (Brussels) , painter of genre, portraits, still lifes. At the age of nine, he lost the use of his legs, self-taught he developed his talent by studying Corot and Watteau’s paintings. He made his first exhibitions in 1942 in Belgium and France. In the 1950s, he moved to France on the French Riviera. He became the favourite portraitist of many VIP including princess Grace of Monaco, Ingrid Bergman, Winston Churchill. . . Many of his works have been acquired by the French Government and national museums. In 1957 he received the prize for "La jeune peinture" in Paris.
