H. W. de Jong (1876-1950) - Een bloemstilleven met duizendschoon in een vaas

A flower still life with sweet daisy in a vase. The size of the canvas is 50x40. 5 cm and the classic frame is 60x50 cm.

The painting is in good restored condition and is clean of surface dirt. The classic frame is in excellent condition and is from the KWH brand.

Painter Hendrik Willem de Jong was born in Rotterdam on March 4, 1876 and died in 1950 in Harderwijk. His older brother Jan studied at the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts and later became a drawing teacher there. Hendrik received drawing lessons from his brother at an early age. He then took a correspondence course in drawing at the renowned 'School of Drawings' in London. On November 10, 1897 he left for the city of Oldenzaal (province of Overijssel) . In 1927, Hendrik became a painter by profession at a later age. He then lived in the village of Nunspeet.

In Nunspeet, Hendrik taught Chris ten Bruggen Kate (1920-2003) , who would become known for his magical realist paintings. Daan de Jong (Utrecht 1982) , painter of Veluwe landscapes and cloudy skies, is a descendant of the artistic De Jong family. These three painters had an exhibition in the Noord Veluws Museum from October 30, 2021 to January 23, 2022.
