H&R MODEL 165 LEATHERNECK SEMI ATO RIFLE

[ translate ]

SERIAL NUMBER: 860. BARREL: 23". CALIBER: .22 LR. MANUFACTURED: circa 1945. The H&R Model 165 Leatherneck with serial number 860 is a highly collectible, early-production .22 LR semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Harrington & Richardson right at the conclusion of World War II in 1945 [H&R Model 165 Leatherneck]. Because the production run for this model is widely understood to have started around serial number 751, a rifle stamped with number 860 represents one of the very first few hundred units ever built. Visually and mechanically modeled after the military's .45 caliber Reising submachine gun used by the USMC, this rifle features a distinctively robust, military-style full wood stock and a unique under-forend cocking plunger mechanism rather than a traditional side-bolt handle. These early units were originally designed as civilian military-style trainers and typically come equipped with precise Redfield aperture peep sights, a blued steel finish, and a detachable box magazine. CONDITION: Good. the metal has taken on a plumb patina. The bore is shiny with sharp rifling. Operates normally. C&R 26-281
